The Better Business Bureau has released its 2021 Scam Tracker Risk Report

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Better Business Bureau strives to be the bridge between companies and their target consumers. So, it's in the group's best interest to keep both sides in the know.

One of BBB's more successful tools has been its Scam Tracker website. According to the BBB's 2021 Risk Report, more than a million people visited the site last year.

The report shows that almost half of those visiting the site questioned whether they had fallen victim to a scam. The Scam Tracker website allows visitors to search scams and even report suspected criminal activity in their area.

The 2021 Risk Report breaks down which scams were reported and the losses reported by law enforcement. Among those reported were reports of online purchases, crypto-currency schemes, and employment-related scams.

On a global scale fraud accounts for billions in losses for consumers and businesses alike. The BBB's Scam Tracker website and its annual risk reports are just some of the tools at our disposal.

John Hessinger the BBB's Community Development Manager points out that the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" remains the best rule of thumb.
