Oracle Park food workers vote to go on strike

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Over 900 union food service workers at Oracle Park in San Francisco voted to strike on Saturday just before the Giants took on the Dodgers.

And that could mean no peanuts, no popcorn or no hot dogs for baseball fans in the Bay area if the strike by union concession workers continues.

The members of Unite Here Local 2 are not directly employed by the Giants, but by a subcontractor company called Bon Appetit.

Yje workers want concessions on the issues of Covid safety, health care and hazard pay of an additional $3 an hour.

The concession stands remained open for Sunday's matchup between San Francisco and Los Angeles, but that could be the last time until it is resolved.

Baseball fans may have to bring their own food in the future as other runions and food workers say they will not cross the picket lines.
