“Air Jordan 1’s” up for auction, expected to go for over $100,000

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - The "Air Jordan 1" sneakers worn by Michael Jordan during his 1984-85 rookie season have hit the auction block and are ready to sell for an expected $100,000 to $150,000 next month.

Jordan revolutionized the sport of basketball and was an essential part in expanding the NBA on a global stage in the early 1990's. A lot of that had to do with his shoe deal with Nike and being the face of "Air Jordan."

An identical pair that was autographed by the basketball legend, sometimes referred to as "The GOAT," sold last year, as well. It was a slam dunk and sold for $560,000.

Bids for this pair will open at $80,000 and the auction ends on May 12.
