Buc-ee’s files trademark lawsuit against mini mart in Ohio over logo

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (NBC, KYMA) - Buc-ee's has filed a trademark lawsuit against a mini mart in Ohio over its logo.

The store on the receiving end of the lawsuit, filed last week, is Beaver's Mini Mart, located in Beavercreek, Ohio.

It's only about 20 minutes away from Buc-ee's Huber Heights location, near Dayton.

Buc-ee's alleged the store is infringing on its trademarks, using a cartoon beaver logo and red coloring that looks like its famous branding.

In the suit, Buc-ee's said its company has been using the name and logo for more than four decades and holds numerous federal trademarks.

Buc-ee's claimed the mini mart started using the logo after Buc-ee's established the trademark rights.

The complaint alleged the logo could create "confusion among consumers" about if the store is associated with Buc-ee's.

The lawsuit is creating some backlash in the community. Some neighboring businesses and chains have come out in support of the mini mart, while other local companies even changing their logos to beaver-themed pictures.
