Walt Disney Company picks new CEO to succeed Bob Iger

(NBC, KYMA) - The Walt Disney Company has named Theme Parks Chief Josh D'Amaro as the new CEO, and he will succeed Bob Iger.

Disney announced the decision Tuesday, and D'Amaro will take over the massive media empire on March 18.

"Josh D'Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO," said Iger. "He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects. His ability to combine creativity with operational excellence is exemplary and I am thrilled for Josh and the company."

The announcement comes during a turbulent time for the entertainment business as Disney and other legacy studios grapple with the decline of broadcast television viewership, the rise of generative artificial intelligence, and scrutiny from Trump Administration regulators.
