Meta shares new nuclear-power plans
(CNN, KYMA) - "Meta" is looking to power its artificial intelligence (AI) plans. To that end, it announced nuclear power deals with three companies Friday.
The parent company of Facebook says it has agreements with developers Terra Power' and Oklo to back new reactor projects. It hopes to see the new reactors online as early as 2030 and 2032.
Meta has another deal with power producer Vistra. That deal allows Meta to buy and expand output from three nuclear plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Meta needs the electricity to power its forthcoming AI data center under construction in Ohio. It's expected to go online later this year.
