Snapchat places cap on free memory storage

(CNN, KYMA) - Some memories are unforgettable and some will now come with a cost as Snapchat is asking its biggest users to pay a monthly fee to keep their "memories."

That's a feature the social media platform started in 2016, which allows people to save videos and photos as opposed to letting them disappear after a while.

Since then more than one-trillion "memories" were saved and Snapchat's parent company says it needs a little financial help for its infrastructure.

The company says users who have more than five gigabytes' worth of "memories" will get charged.

Analysts say snapchat has about 460-million users per day.
