Microsoft to lay off 3% of its employees

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that it will be laying off three percent of its employees.

The layoffs affect about 6,000 people across all levels, teams and geographies.

This is likely the company's largest round of layoffs since the elimination of 10,000 roles in 2023.

In January, Microsoft announced a small round of layoffs that were performance-based.

According to a company spokesperson, these new job cuts are not related to performance.

One objective is to reduce layers of management.
