Yuma VA clinic temporarily pauses operations
Local Veterans concerned as to when it might reopen
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed to News 11 that starting Monday, November 14, there will be a "short-term pause" to clinical operation at the Yuma VA Community Clinic, with no idea of when the center could possibly reopen.
We learned about the closure Thursday from one local Veteran, who says his appointment for next Monday was abruptly cancelled.
Clifford Baser with the VA says the closure is due to unexpected delays in the leasing contract negotiations at its current location.
Baser said that all parties are on the same page in coming to a resolution as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, they will provide care to Veterans through Telehealth and additional health care options within Yuma.
These include community care, home care, and virtual and telephonic medical appointments.
While they understand the inconvenience of this news, Yuma VA is working diligently on the matter, and are available for all Veterans.
