GM pauses advertising on Twitter in wake of Elon Musk deal

(NBC) - General Motors (GM) announced on Friday, October 28, 2022 that the automaker would suspend paid advertising on Twitter as it seeks, "to understand the direction of the platform under their new ownership."

Earlier that Friday, Elon Musk, who owns Tesla, has officially taken over control of the social media platform.

Moreover, GM is a competitor with Tesla in the electric car market.

The company has spent billions of dollars recently to better compete against Musk's Tesla brand.

According to a statement, the pause is a "normal course of business with a significant change in a media platform."

GM, like every major automotive band, uses twitter to interact with its customers.

For now, however, paid advertising has ceased.
