Man builds dream home from recyclables
Re-purposed supplies replaced building materials
An Egyptian man used his environmental vision to make his dream home a reality.
Taymour El-Hadidi says he couldn't find a suitable home after he got married in 2012, so he decided to build it himself.
El-Hadidi got a piece of property. He then gathered a team of builders, electricians, and carpenters to begin working on his eco-friendly enterprise.
Next came the hard part - he had to collect enough discarded bricks, blocks, and glass bottles to build his home's floors, walls, and ceiling.
It took time and effort, but saved him a bunch on building costs. Most of his materials were absolutely free.
It did cost him about $124-thousand in labor to create his sustainable castle.
El-Hadidi says he hopes his home inspires others to follow in his footsteps.
