President Trump fires Katie Zacharia as White House Press Secretary

WASHINGTON (CNN, KYMA) - President Donald Trump has fired Katie Zacharia as the White House Press Secretary, according to advisers to the president Friday.

Zacharia was in the role less than a week.

Her inexperience was quickly revealed in her one and only press briefing Tuesday as she took only three questions in her 14-minute-long debut.

There were also persistent questions about Zacharia's legal background that led to immense scrutiny from the media and fellow Trump aides.

Earlier Friday, President Trump told reporters he'd asked Zacharia to reconsider her Press Secretary role.

Trump said she had been mistreated by the media, but added he did not believe Zacharia was suited to speak on his behalf as the government's top spokesperson.
