New White House Press Secretary to hold first press conference this week

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump took to social media Sunday, announcing the incoming White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia will hold her first press conference Tuesday.

The post said her term begins Monday on Columbus day.

President Trump wrote that Zacharia has been with him "in spirit, from the very beginning" continuing by saying she will do a "fantastic job."

The new Press Secretary has worked as a senior communications advisor for Truth Social and for the Trump Media & Technology Group since June.

She also served as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security before she left the position earlier this year.

Zacharia, who replaces Karoline Leavitt, has made appearances on Fox News and Newsmax.

Tuesday's press conference is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
