New Air Force One to get upgrades

(NBC, KYMA) - The Qatar-donated plane that is now serving as Air Force One will be sent away in about a month to receive upgrades, according to President Donald Trump.

Those upgrades come among swirling concerns about security features, after President Trump flew home from a NATO summit in Turkey on a different presidential aircraft.

At the time, Trump denied the decision was based on security issues, but did say, "I'm no. 1 on the kill list for Iran."

NBC News reported the Secret Service urged Trump to take the old plane home from Turkey because he was departing from a location near the Middle East, and the U.S. had just resumed hostilities with Iran.

The ornate jet is meant to serve as a temporary replacement as Boeing works on delivering long delayed, next generation Air Force One plane, expected in 2028.
