L.A. County D.A’s Office reviews criminal case involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - The L.A. County District Attorney's Office is reviewing a criminal case involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) for possible charges.

The case was forwarded to prosecutors on September 21 after an investigation by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Meanwhile, the FBI has searched former Rep. Swalwell's Washington, D.C. home and seized electronic devices, including an iPhone and MacBook pro, according to a search warrant obtained by NBC News.

Swalwell resigned from Congress and dropped out of California's governor's race earlier this year following multiple sexual assault and misconduct allegations.

In April, Lonna Drewes, a former model and business owner, accused Swalwell of drugging, sexually assaulting and choking her. She said the alleged assault happened during their third meeting in 2018.

Authorities confirmed an investigation into Drewes' allegations, and the D.A.'s review will determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
