Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani recovering from pneumonia

(NBC, KYMA) - Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is recovering from a bout of pneumonia.

A spokesman tells NBC News the former mayor remains in critical but stable condition, adding that Giuliani was diagnosed with restrictive airway disease in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

Giuliani was put on a mechanical ventilator over the weekend, but as of Monday morning, he was breathing on his own.

President Donald Trump confirmed Giuliani was hospitalized in a post Sunday, but he did not specify which hospital admitted him.
