President Trump raises global tariffs to 15%

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump is raising the global tariff to 15%. He made the announcement on social media Saturday, in which he blasted the Supreme Court for striking down his previous tariffs on imports from across the world.

Trump called the court's ruling a "ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American decision."

Right after the court's ruling Friday, he announced a blanket 10% import tax on all foreign trading partners, and then Saturday, Trump hiked the global tariff to 15%.

Even at 15%, tariffs on some countries, such as China, Mexico and Canada, will likely see a big reduction in overall rates.

Trump is issuing the new global tariff under a different law than the one used for the previous tariffs, which were ruled illegal.
