DHS walks back suspension of TSA PreCheck

(NBC, KYMA) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says PreCheck will remain operational for now.

It comes after earlier indications Sunday that the DHS was suspending the expedited screening program along with Global Entry amid the department's funding lapse.

A statement from a TSA spokesperson said that as staffing constraints arise, "the agency will evaluate on a case by case basis and adjust operations accordingly."

However, the TSA did not address the status of the Global Entry program.

The suspension of both programs, first reported by The Washington Post, was supposed to start at 6 a.m. Sunday.
