Federal judge in Utah orders Trump Administration to return man wrongly deported

PROVO, Utah (NBC, KYMA) - A federal judge in Utah is ordering the return of an immigrant who was deported while living in the Provo, Utah area.

The judge has ordered the return of Federico Reyes Vasquez after he was deported despite an order from December 22 to remain in the country.

Vasquez was deported to Mexico last week, but now U.S. District Judge Jill Parrish is demanding he be returned by January 21 so his case can get additional review.

According to her decision, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have said they are working with Vasquez's attorney, Alec Bracken, to make that happen.

Bracken says one of the most upsetting things about his client's case is that "due process was not followed."

"Access to counsel was not followed in this case. A court's order was not followed in this case. That's probably the most upsetting thing to me when it comes to this is that due process should be served always in this country," Bracken expressed.

According to Bracken, as far as he and U.S. officials know, Vasquez "has no criminal history whatsoever," and his family members are worried.
