White House to consider whether to reclassify marijuana’s drug status

(CNN, KYMA) - President Donald Trump may sign an executive order to ease restrictions on marijuana.

The Drug Enforcement Agency currently classifies marijuana as a Schedule One drug. This means it has a high potential for abuse and has no accepted medical use.

A potential change could classify marijuana as a Schedule Three drug, meaning it would be considered less addictive.

President Trump first raised the idea of re-classifying marijuana while on the campaign trail last year, and on Monday, he said he is strongly looking at that idea because he says a lot of people want to see it.
