Federal judge grants DOJ’s request to release court documents on Ghislaine Maxwell

Federal Bureau of Prisons

(CNN, KYMA) - On Tuesday, a federal judge in New York granted the Justice Department's (DOJ) request to unseal records from the investigation and criminal prosecution of Ghislaine Maxwell.

The ruling paves the way for the DOJ to publicly release evidence it gathered against Maxwell, an associate of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The documents will be redacted to protect victims' identities and other identifiable information.

It's not yet clear when the DOJ plans to release the documents or how much of the material will be new.

Some evidence came out during Maxwell's trial and Congress has released a trove of records recently.
