WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - First Lady Melania Trump has unveiled this year's Christmas decorations at the White House Monday. This year's theme, "Home Is Where the Heart Is."
There were also nods to the country's 250th anniversary among the decorations in the East Room.
A release from the White House says the official White House Christmas tree, an 18-foot concolor fir from Sidney, Michigan, "honors gold star families and features gold stars as well as ornaments depicting the official bird and flower from each state and territory, celebrating the hope, courage, and steadfast spirit that makes America home."
A portion of the White House Creche is featured in the Grand Foyer.
According to the White House, it is undergoing "a much-needed restoration overseen by the White House curators."
However, the gingerbread house on display "showcases the South Portico of the White House" and features First Lady Trump's "signature Christmas wreaths with classic red bows" on the windows.
The U.S. Marine Corps Band was also on hand Monday to add to the festivities.
