Energy Department launches development of AI platform
(CNN, KYMA) - The Trump Administration wants to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in federal scientific research.
On Monday, President Donald Trump signed a new executive order to create what is called the "Genesis Mission."
The project will let national labs under the Department of Energy use AI in working with tech companies and academics.
Supporters say the move could improve research in physics, chemistry, nuclear fission, and space exploration.
However, there are also concerns about the energy demands that AI technology requires as well as safety concerns of weaker regulations.
