President Trump announces end of U.S. payments to Colombia
(CNN, KYMA) - According to a post on social media Sunday, President Donald Trump says his administration will cut off all funding to Colombia.
President Trump accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of doing nothing to stop the production of drugs in his country.
The president said Colombia's inaction has happened despite U.S. payments to the South American nation.
The United States has provided about $210 million in aid to Colombia this fiscal year, and in the past, the U.S. has provided billions of dollars each year to help Colombia's security.
Petro lashed out at the president in a post to social media Sunday, calling Trump "rude and ignorant toward Colombia."
