Attorneys General announce lawsuit against Trump Administration for program termination
OAKLAND, Calif. (KYMA) - California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes will be hosting a press conference about President Trump.
The Attorneys General announced Thursday morning on a new action because of the Trump Administration "breaking the law," according to NBC.
The California Public Utilities Commission is joining the Attorneys General to sue the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) termination of the Solar for All Program.
A press release from Rob Bonta calls this termination unlawful as it denies critical funds for low-income communities across the nation.
Another lawsuit argues that the termination of the program breached a contractual obligation.
"At a time when energy bills are at a record high and only continuing to skyrocket, the Trump Administration is needlessly hampering an industry that can produce safe, reliable, and inexpensive energy," said Attorney General Rob Bonta. "Solar for All was built to deliver relief for all Americans — by lowering energy bills for working families, reducing our carbon footprint, and creating high-quality union jobs that would bolster our economy. We will not let this illegal termination of the Solar for All Program stand. This Administration can try all they want to bend the law, but we will hold them accountable. Every time."
