Presidents Trump and Zelenskyy meet during United Nations’ General Assembly
NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations' General Assembly in New York Tuesday.
This was President Trump's fifth meeting with Zelenskyy during his second term.
He praised Ukrainian soldiers during the bilat, saying Ukraine's leader is "putting up one hell of a fight."
Speaking to the assembly earlier in the day, Trump lamented that the war in Ukraine was still ongoing, reiterated that he originally believed it "would be the easiest" war to end.
He had claimed on the campaign trail that he could end the war in one day.
The president also criticized European countries for buying Russian oil at the same time they are trying to ramp up pressure on Russia to end its war in Ukraine.
He also warned Russia he is prepared to impose strong economic measures if it does not work toward ending the conflict.
