NBC News poll shows Americans’ biggest concern
(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A new NBC News Decision Desk poll shows the economy remains a big concern for Americans right now, with the rising cost of living ranking as their biggest economic problem by far.
45% of adults surveyed say inflation and the rising cost of living is the economic issue that's most important to their families right now. That's more than 30 points higher than the next-closest issue, health care costs, another one that hits the wallet.
Most of those surveyed, 61%, disapprove of how President Donald Trump is handling the inflation and the cost of living.
But overall, President Trump's approval rating is in familiar territory, with 43% approving and 57% disapproving. That's similar to previous polls during his second term.
The NBC News Decision Desk poll, powered by SurveyMonkey, also found that most Americans support a growing movement across the country, banning phones in schools.
47% of adults surveyed strongly support states adopting phone restrictions in schools while only 8% strongly oppose phone bans.
When asked about the redistricting fights taking place across the country, most Americans said they prefer to have a non-partisan commission draw borders for U.S. House seats, instead of the party in power in each state.
