President Trump announces an 90-day extension on China tariff deadline
(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - President Donald Trump has agreed to once again delay the deadline for China's tariff deadline by another 90 days.
President Trump signed the executive order Monday just hours before the pause on China's tariffs was set to expire.
If the deadline had not been extended, U.S. duties on China's goods would have snapped back to triple-digit rates announced in April.
The new deadline is now set for November 10.
This comes as the administration continues to hold on-going negotiations with China, the world's second largest economy.
China has said that it would adopt and maintain all necessary measures to suspend or remove non-tariff measures.
It's the second time the Trump Administration has delayed imposing even higher tariffs on China.
A full-fledged trade deal with China remains elusive despite at least seven days of face-to-face talks this year between high-ranking officials on both sides.
