Federal judge denies release of grand jury materials in Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal case
(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A federal judge has denied the DOJ's request to to unseal grand jury materials in Ghislaine Maxwell's criminal case Monday.
Supporters of President Donald Trump had pushed for more disclosures related to Maxwell and her co-conspirator Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased financier and accused sex trafficker.
However, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer said in his ruling that "the government's reasoning for unsealing those grand jury materials fails at the threshold," and that anyone who was following the Epstein case would "learn next to nothing new" from them.
Engelmayer added that the materials do not identify anyone else besides Epstein and Maxwell as having had sexual contact with a minor.
