Trump Administration sues L.A. over immigration policies

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The Trump Administration is suing the City of Los Angeles over its immigration policies.

The lawsuit claims the city's "sanctuary policies" discriminate against federal law enforcement, treating them differently from other law enforcement authorities.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, the City Council and City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson are all named as defendants.

The lawsuit comes weeks after protesters clashed with federal officials over deportation efforts.

After the lawsuit was filed, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said, in a statement, Los Angeles is "prioritizing illegal aliens over American citizens" and "undermining law enforcement at every level."
