Supreme Court rules to limit nationwide injunctions from federal judges that block executive orders

(KYMA, KECY/CBS) - The Supreme Court of the United States ruled Friday to limit the powers of federal judges to issue nationwide injunctions when attempting to block an executive order.

The 6-3 decision by the justices was ruled because "universal injunctions" exceed authority from federal courts.

Rulings were not made on birthright citizenship, only on the injunctions.

President Donald Trump considered the decision a monumental victory and plans to move forward with his executive orders.
