State and federal lawmakers react to Iran attacking U.S. military base in Qatar

(KYMA, KECY) - Lawmakers across the country are sharing their reaction to Iran launching a retaliatory strike on U.S. bases in Qatar.
This comes two days after the U.S. attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities, which was part of Operation Midnight Hammer.
President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social saying, "Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered."
"I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done," President Trump said.
Senator Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) posted to X saying, "God bless and protect our men and women on these bases."
Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) also posted to X saying, "As Iran attacks our bases in the Middle East, I’m praying that our brave service members in Qatar, Iraq and elsewhere stay safe."
Other lawmakers across the country shared their reaction to the attack:
One of Trump's own military officials admitted that the president himself is the "biggest threat" to the safety and security of our troops because he can't stop himself from posting on social media.

We need de-escalation and diplomacy now–U.S. troops are at risk. https://t.co/sc1K1ZTfCB
California currently has 205 members of the @TheCalGuard deployed in the Middle East, including at bases in Qatar and Iraq. Jen and I are praying for their safety — and for the safety of every American service member serving in harm’s way.

My thoughts are with the American personnel stationed in the Middle East and their families. Their safety must remain our top priority.

Thinking of our servicemembers who should never have been put at risk like this.
— Senator Patty Murray (@PattyMurray) June 23, 2025
Trump's reckless attack was not necessary or justified according to ANY intelligence I was briefed on. No strategy. No endgame.
But Iran should NOT seek to escalate conflict with our military any… https://t.co/AdH21ES5OH
I’ve seen press reports that Iranian missiles are targeting U.S. military bases in the Middle East—putting the lives of thousands of American servicemembers at immediate risk.
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) June 23, 2025
I’ve asked the Trump administration to give me a classified briefing to lay out the full threat…
Mr. President: It’s time to end this madness in Iran.

May God bless you and all those who serve under you. https://t.co/DaETHCRyHL
