Trump rolls back abortion care guidance

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The Trump Administration is rolling back Biden-era guidance for emergency room abortions.

The 2022 policy specified that people should be able to access an abortion in the event of a medical emergency, even if state laws restrict restrict such procedures.

The Department of Health and Human Services said that guidance does not reflect the current administration's stance.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services added that it will continue to reinforce the Federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act.

This act requires all hospitals receiving Medicare money to stabilize anyone who has an emergency medical condition or to transfer them to another facility that has that capacity.
