Supreme Court overturns order to protect over 500k immigrants
(KYMA, KECY/NBC) - The Supreme Court overturned an order Friday to block the Trump Administration from ending protections for immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
Over 500,000 immigrants were given permission to live and work in the United States through a program by the Biden Administration.
Two justices stated that the court didn't account for "the devastating consequences of allowing the government to precipitously upend the lives and livelihoods of nearly half a million noncitizens while their legal claims are pending."
Previously, a Massachusetts-based judge said the Trump Administration could not revoke a person's status without "individualized determination."
