President Biden makes first public appearance following cancer diagnosis

SALISBURY, Conn. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Former President Joe Biden attended his grandson's high school graduation Friday, marking his first public appearance since he announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last weekend.

In photos posted on Instagram by former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and the former president's daughter, Ashley Biden, the former president and former first lady appeared alongside other family members to celebrate the high school graduation of Robert Hunter Biden II.

On Tuesday, his office released a second statement, saying he had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer prior to last week.

The statement also clarified the former president had not been tested for prostate cancer in over a decade.
