FBI moves workers from headquarters

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The FBI is leaving its headquarters in Washington D.C.

FBI Director Kash Patel made the announcement during an interview with Fox News.

He cited the condition of storied J. Edgar Hoover building for his departure, calling it unsafe. Patel says about 1,500 personnel will be deployed to locations all across the country.

Finding a new headquarters has actually been in the works for years now. In 2023, the General Services Administration selected Greenbelt, Maryland as the agency's new home.

However, President Donald Trump had announced in March that he would block the move over to Maryland.
