State and federal lawmakers react to former President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis
(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Following the news of former President Joe Biden's prostate cancer diagnosis, lawmakers across the country are sharing their reaction.
Shortly after Biden's personal office made the announcement, President Donald Trump posted well wishes on his Truth Social platform.
The president said he and first lady Melania Trump were "saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent diagnosis."
He goes on to say, "We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."
Former Vice President Kamala Harris posted to X, extending well wishes to her former boss saying she and her husband Doug Emhoff are "saddened" by the former president's prostate cancer diagnosis.
Harris writing in part, "Joe is a fighter and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership. We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery."
Harris's statement comes shortly after Biden's personal office announced he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to the bone.
According to a source familiar with Biden's situation, the former president and his family are meeting with doctors and considering "multiple treatment options."
