Former President Biden diagnosed with prostate cancer

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Biden's personal office released a statement Sunday, saying the cancer has metastasized to the bone, which is a more aggressive form of the disease.

The former president, who is 82 years old, was diagnosed on Friday after experiencing urinary symptoms.

A source familiar with Biden and his family tell NBC News they are meeting with doctors and considering multiple "treatment options," including hormone treatment.

According to the statement released by Biden's office, the cancer is described as being "hormone-sensitive," which allows for effective management of the disease.
