Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will not run for U.S. Senate

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) says she will not enter the U.S. Senate race.

It comes as Republicans are eying Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff's seat in the battleground state as a crucial pickup to expand their three-seat majority next year.

Greene posted to X saying she is no longer running because "the Senate is where good ideas go to die."

Earlier this week, the congresswoman told reporters she was also considering entering Georgia's governor race.

A spokesperson for Greene did not immediately respond to a request for comment about whether Greene had made a decision yet.

Meanwhile, another trump ally, Representative Buddy Carter of Georgia, announced his candidacy for the Senate, making him the first major republican candidate to challenge Ossoff.
