President Trump wants to rename Veterans’ Day

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) – President Donald Trump says that he wants to rename Veterans' Day to 'Victory Day for World War I.'

Trump posted on social media late Thursday morning that the renaming would be the start of a celebrating our victories once again.

He also said he wants to celebrate May 8 as 'Victory Day for World War II.'

May 8, 1945 represents the end of the war in Europe, also known as V-E Day, but it's not a federally observed holiday right here in the U.S.

Trump did not say whether or not he wants May 8 to become a federal holiday like Veterans' Day.
