U.S. Senate votes on tariff resolution
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The Senate held a vote on a resolution that would effectively block some of President Donald Trump's tariffs.
Its co-sponsor, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), predicts enough of his fellow Republicans will vote with Democrats for this resolution to pass.
The Constitution does give Congress the power to impose duties, but a law lets the President do so under unusual and extraordinary threats.
Trump's executive order from April 2nd declares trade deficits to rise to that level. The Senate resolution would terminate that declaration.
