City of El Centro opens applications for councilmember
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of El Centro is looking for a new city councilmember after the former mayor resigned last month.
El Centro City Clerk Norma Wyles says applications are now open for residents who might be interested in running for city council.
Wyles says applications can be found on the city's website and emailed to the city or you can also drop off the application in person.
Wyles explains what will happen after the deadline.
“The first meeting after the applications are due will be on April 8th and that is to review applications we have received to make sure that they are qualified...They are registered voters and then the application interviews will be on April 16th at five on an open session meeting and then the appointing will be on April 21st," said Wyles.
The clerk says you must be a resident of El Centro, 18-years of age and a registered voter.
The deadline for the application is this Sunday.
