Board of Supervisors change process for zoning complaints

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Board of Supervisors changed the zoning complaint process Monday morning.

Now when multiple complaints are made about a property breaking zoning regulations, they will go straight to the County Attorney's Office

One major and common complaint is too much trash in the yard.

Yuma county supervisor Darren Simmons shares why having a yard full of junk could be a problem for surrounding homes.

"[It] drops property values, and it's just something that needs to be dealt with not over six months or a year or two years...It needs to be dealt with immediately," said Simmons.

Those who go against the rules faces fines, possible jail time, and the county cleaning up the mess themselves and billing the homeowner.
