Local politicians react to President Trump addressing Congress
Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz from California and Arizona State Representative Nick Kupper share their reaction to the address.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - President Donald Trump addressed Congress Tuesday evening, and some local politicians shared what they had to say about the speech.
California Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz and Arizona State Representative Nick Kupper had opposing views on the president's recent speech.
"I like how he highlighted about the investments that are coming to our country, you know...he talked about TSMs doing $165 billion," Rep. Kupper expressed.
"I've never heard a speech to Congress that contiained more lies than this last speech," Congressman Ruiz said.
This was the first time President Trump addressed Congress in his second term.
While many on the social media platform X claimed to like Texas Representative Al Green's disruption, Kupper was not in favor of it: "What I want is decorum and accountability, regardless of party. That's what I want, you know as a military guy, that matters to me: Decorum and discipline, and so I was glad to see that Speaker Johnson had him taken out."
Meanwhile, Ruiz shared what he would like to see from the president going forward: "Stop this aggressive behavior. That's dismantling the federal government, part of Project 2025 to get him unprecedented power at the expense of working middle class families."
Kupper said he hopes to see Trump continue to stick to his word and continue to be what he described as a "difference maker."
