California Senate to vote on No Kings Act
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA) - State Senators in California are expected to hold a vote on SB 747, also known as the No Kings Act, Tuesday.
According to a press release, the No Kings Act is a bill to hold ICE, CBP and other federal agencies accountable "for lawless behavior, closing a legal loophole that holds federal officers to a different standard than state and local law enforcement for constitutional violations."
The press release says while other states have begun to emulate the bill, the vote will make the California State Senate "the first legislative body in the country to pass this groundbreaking ICE accountability legislation."
The vote follows the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis.
Prior to the vote, State Senator Scott Weiner (D-San Francisco) and other legislators held a press conference to talk about the bill.
