Ballots for Prop 50 Special Election to be mailed October 6

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) - Active California voters will receive their ballots for the November 4 Special Election beginning October 6.

The Statewide Special Election focuses on Proposition 50, which focuses on congressional redistricting.

A "yes" vote would allow newly drawn congressional district maps in 2026. A "no" vote would keep currently drawn congressional district maps.

New maps would be drawn following the 2030 U.S. Census regardless of vote.

The Imperial County Registrar of Voters (ROV) recommends the following:

  • Mail your ballot at least seven days before Election Day
  • Vote early in-person at an (ROV) office until November 3
  • Look for drop-off locations for Election Day (linked below)

For more information, you can check ROV's website here.
