Arizona child encourages people to get involved in their communities

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - A fourth grader from Arizona is making a name for himself across the country, encouraging people to get involved in their communities.

William Miller spoke at an elementary school in his hometown of Goodyear this week, but he's also been on the pages of national magazines, and made appearances with social media influencers.

At Copper Trails Elementary School, Miller pushed the crowd to grab opportunity, stressing that hard work is the key to success at any age.

"My main reason for speaking in front of schools is because everywhere I go, I'm the only kid in the room. Not because I'm special, but because none of us show up. And I want to change that. I want more people standing with me. My challenge to every single person watching is to level up your character in real life. Trust yourself, put down the controller and pick up a skill. Let's show everybody we are the future."

Miller has a speaking engagement lined up at Florida State. He says he hopes to make it to the United Nations someday.
