Local lawmakers in support of water reducing bill

(KYMA, KECY) - Two local lawmakers are in support of a bill that they say would solve the state's housing crisis.

Arizona State Representative Nick Kupper says Senate Bill 1114 would allow housing developments on pause to move forward in Buckeye and Phoenix by reducing the amount of water permitted for each house to be developed.

The legislation, which is also sponsored by Senator Tim Dunn, reduces projected water demand by 15%.

The bill would also unlock $5 billion in stranded investment and would allow for the construction of up to 200 thousand new housing united.

The bill now moves to the full house for consideration.
