Arizona Attorney General sues Trump Administration over Department of Education layoffs

(KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes is suing the Trump Administration following layoffs under the Department of Education.

Kris Mayes, along with 20 other attorney generals, filed a lawsuit to stop the Trump Administration from firing about 50% of the Department.

"Let's not pretend this is about making government more efficient. It is not. It is destruction," said Attorney General Mayes. "It isn't about better education policy. It is about tearing down public education by those who want to privatize it for profit."

Department of Education programs have served over 18,000 school districts and provides support to students with disabilities and students from low-income families.
