Georgia renames street in honor of Sen. Warnock

SAVANNAH, Geor. (NBC) - Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock was back in his hometown of Savannah Thursday morning for a special honor.

A street sign, unveiled Thursday, reads "Raphael Warnock Way." The sign is at an intersection in the Kayton-Frazier homes community.

Not only that, Senator Warnock grew up in Savannah's Kayton homes public housing and spent summers as an upward bound student at Savannah State University.

"Whatever other awards or recognitions that I may receive, none is more special than this because this comes from home," Warnock spoke.

Furthermore, band members and cheerleaders from his high school alma mater, Sol C. Johnson High School, performed at the ceremony.
